Meerkat Stories, with Marlou Rutten as story developer and Eva Aben as head writer, guides the script development process from start to finish, or steps in to kickstart a project or get it back on track. Throughout, we stay alert to the creative process, quality and progress of the project. With one goal: creating an unforgettable, high calibre story with impact, and have fun along the way.

While unburdening the producer, broadcaster, or streaming service, we provide a creatively safe space where writer(s) have the room to fly within the scope of the assignment. If needed, we also offer support with funding applications and pitches.

Experience has taught us that we strengthen each other in the development process, while staying critical of one another. By combining our perspectives, we quickly get to the heart of a project and add a layer of depth that elevates its overall quality.

Our approach

After a thorough introduction and sharpening the focus of the project, we make clear agreements on planning, budget, and, if needed, bringing in additional writers to strengthen the writing team.

Once the core, vision, and thematic foundation of the project are established, the development work begins. Once the film or series has been beaten out, we move on to the treatment. We place extra focus on the treatment phase, so that the screenwriting phase runs as efficiently as possible. Once the dialogue version, following final editing, has been approved, our job is done.

By arrangement, we remain on standby during the shooting period to handle any rewrites if needed.
